Is artificial kelp a fun environmental enrichment for seals? Do captive seals want to hunt live fish? What do you think?

Artificial kelp has been used as environmental enrichment for the seals at Kolmården zoo before this study. The seals seemed to like the artificial kelp and were seen to manipulate it. Live fish on the other hand has never before been given to these seal at Kolmåden zoo.

In this study I have measured the motivation of grey and harbour seals for getting access to both artificial kelp and live fish.
