Does the captive environment affect the activity budget in European bison and their response to enrichment?
The overall purpose of this study was to see whether the activity of European bison differ in various captive environments. Further, if the bisons differ in their response towards feeding enrichment. The European bisons in this study were housed in either barren or naturalistic environments which have the potential to influence the bisons in different ways. It could be of importance to know how they might be influenced as the European bisons in Sweden are part of the EEP, the European Endangered Species Programme, in which they could be subject to re-stocking the wild population.
