About me

Me and Villma

There was no question, growing up, that I wanted to work with animals or in some way always be surrounded by animals. Our home has always been filled with the sound of twittering birds as we had budgies. Through the years we also got the pleasure of having turtles, a rat and fishes. My parents was gifted with a lot of patience when me and my sister came home once in a while with a new animal of some sort. Even to this day I can't seem to be without budgies and now I have four madcaps.

Although we "only" had small animals my dream has always been to work with larger mammals. Even at a rather young age I was determined to move to Africa as soon as I was old enough, to save all primates living there. Well, life got in the way and that didn't happen. Instead, I moved to Linköping to become a biologist. When it was time for my thesis project I was sure I was going to do something with wolves, big cats or something like that. When I got the suggestion to do a project on South African fur seals I wasn't too thrilled. I think marine mammals are wonderful creatures and all, but I haven't been that interested to work with them. Then I said "Ok, why not". It didn't take long before I fell in love with the fur seals and was stoked to work with them. Ever since I started the project my interest for these amazing and fun animals has grown. Now, I don't regret a single day I got to spend at Kolmården Wild Animal Park with the fur seals and I miss them a lot now that I'm done.

We will see where I will end up after graduation. For the moment, I have no plans.
