Study sites & GIS analyses
Study sites (small scale)

Surveys of burnet moths were conducted on four sites on the Baltic island Öland, during the summer of 2008. The surrounding landscape is dominated by natural and semi-natural grassland and deciduous woodland, large areas being of high nature conservation values.
The sites were searched for larvae, pupae and adult burnet moths, and measurements were made of some habitat variables that were considered to have an impact on one or more life stages (e.g. larval host plants, nectar sources, sun exposure and vegetation height).
GIS analyses (large scale)

Map based computer analyses were made to asses if presence/absence of burnet moths were related to the amount of meadows and pastures in 10 x 10 km squares in southern Sweden.
