Conclusions

  • Population threshold levels given by multispecies models are larger than threshold levels given by single species model. The main reason for this is that reductions of focal species may cause extinctions of other species within the community.

  • Species at higher trophic levels are most extinction prone because the reduction of species at lower trophic position causes extinctions at higher trophic levels.
