Conclusion & conservation implications
- Pheromone-based trapping method is very efficient in trapping the red click beetle.
- Oaks have shown to give the strongest effect to the occurrence of the beetle, therefore priority should be given to this tree species in conservation management planning.
- Other deciduous trees should also be included within a management plan regardless of their hollow quality as they can complement oaks’ existence and become potential habitats to this beetle.
- The beetle responds to tree density at various scales, therefore it is appropriate to use multi-scale approach for future studies.
