Differences in olfactory sensitivity between the odorants
Statistically significant differences were observed between the detection thresholds for the six odorants (Friedman ANOVA p<0.05). 3-mercapto-3-methylbutyl formate was detected at significantly lower concentrations compared to all five other odorants, whereas 2,2-dimethylthietane was detected at significantly higher concentrations compared to all five other odorants (Wilcoxon p<0.05). No significant differences in sensitivity were found for the other odorants tested.
