Conclusion

The results from this study suggest that the dogs participating experienced positive emotional states with an increased SNS activity (HR and LF/HF ratio) and a decreased PNS activity (RMSSD and HF power).

The increase in SNS activity and decrease in PNS activity during specific stimuli suggest stimuli preferences as well as that some stimuli were percieved as more positive than others by the dogs.

Finally, the overall results indicate that it is possible to measure positive emotional states in dogs by using heart rate parameters.
