Behavioural short- and long-term effects of stress and stress-sensitive periods in the domestic chicken
Animals in modern intensive production systems are exposed to several potential stressors throughout life that challenge their welfare. Laying hens are no exception. But what are the short- and long-term effects of stressful experiences during development? And are there periods during development when the chicken is more sensitive to stress than others? This is what I set out to study for my master thesis project.
