My study area was the county of Östergötland, located in south east Sweden. Additionally, study areas from the county of Kalmar were included in this study together with a few scattered data from the counties of Södermanland and Stockholm, north of Östergötland. The sampling sites were located in dry-mesic Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) dominated forests, forest edges or slow-growing pine forests on hilltops.
