Conclusions
- The bush dogs showed a significantly higher interest in the real pig blood than in the three other odors tested. This might indicate that they perceive this odor as prey-related.
 
- The bush dogs showed a significantly higher interest in the control odor, diethyl phthalate, than for isopentyl acetate and 2-pentylfuran, which indicates that they have a high interest in odors and novel objects in general.    
 
- The tigers did not display any significant difference towards any of the odors tested, mainly because of the low interest they displayed in the logs and odors.
 
- The high interest that the bush dogs displayed towards the real blood indicates that blood could be used as olfactory enrichment for captive carnivores.
