Dairy cows use of a mechanical brush – effects on welfare measured by HR and HRV
I have studied the effects of using a mechanical brush on heart rate and heart rate variability measures, where I more specifically wanted to investigate the brush effect in different situations, i.e. if the brush would have a calming or buffering effect as the cows were exposed to a mild stressor.
The work carried out for this master thesis was part of a larger study investigating positive emotional states in cows. It was funded by Formas and the responsible project was The Centre of Excellence in Animal Welfare Science at SLU.
