Results - Main findings
- When considering all four odor stimuli combined, the meerkats displayed a significantly higher number of interactions per animal than the wolves.
- For both the meerkats and the wolves, the most frequently displayed behavior was sniffing.
- Both the meerkats and the wolves displayed the highest number of interactions toward the odor of real mammalian blood.
- The number of interactions toward the logs across the sessions did not significantly decrease for three out of four odors in the meerkats. In the wolves, no significant decrease in the number of interactions across the five sessions was found with all four odor stimuli.
- The wolves displayed significantly longer interactions with the logs compared to the meerkats.
