Acknowledgements

My biggest thanks to Juhani Vuorinen, who provided the data set for the long-term study, introduced me to the work with the kingfisher and taught all his knowledge. Without him, this study would not have been possible. Many thanks also to my supervisor Karl-Olof Bergman,  who supported and guided me throughout this process, as well as to Lars Westerberg, who sacrificed many afternoons in order to support me with the statistical analyses.
