Cooperation test
- Phase 1 (Training 1)
- 3 Individuals (Edith, Elliot, Lelle) learned to pull one rope in order to receive the food reward
- Phase 2 (Training 2)
- 2 Individuals (Edith, Elliot) showed the onset of the asked behaviour (two ropes had to be pulled simultaneously in order to receive the reward) and an increasing success rate
- Phase 3 (Test phase)
- No cooperation occurred between the individuals
Behavioural observations
- All gibbons spent significantly more time ‘out of arm's reach to everyone‘
- All gibbons were scarcely involved in social interactions
