How does the saproxylic beetle fauna change during cavity succession on hollow oaks

Welcome!

Sorting some beetles before identification.

My name is Olof Widén and I studied the master programme Ecology and the Environment. When choosing a project for my master thesis at Linköping University. For my masters thesis, I wanted to do something that included both field work and working at the lab. By collecting saproxylic beetles during the summer fo 2018 and later on sorting and identifying them I got the perfect combination. When exploring the fascinating world of beetles inhabiting hollow oaks you really understand the importance of diversity and the reason for preserving oak pastures. Here you can find more detailed information about my work.

I hope you will enjoy it and please contact me if you have questions!
