Main findings from the study

Correlations between

  • tonic immobility and aggression
  • sociality and fear of human

These correlations suggest that there could be a genetic linkage between the traits, but no conclusions can be drawn based on these results. Further studies are needed.

  • Differences between males and females, were male generally are more fearful than females, which support earlier results. This suggest that domestication affects male and female chickens differently.

  • Heavier males were less frightened in an open field test and in a fear of human test. No relationship between weigt and behaviour could be found in the females.
