Wolbachia infection frequencies in Aedes aegypti (in a heterogeneous landscape)

Mosquitoes carry some of the world’s most frequent diseases, such as the dengue fever and malaria. Dengue is one of the vector-borne infectious diseases that have the largest direct impact on humans. It is endemic in over 100 countries with over 50 million cases annually.

A novel way to control mosquito vector populations is infecting the mosquitoes with an endosymbiontic bacteria. In this work the possibilities of doing this in a varying landscape is explored.

One of the premier mosquito vectors, Aedes aegypti.
