How do plants respond to climate change?
Ecological communities are currently responding to environmental effects from global climate change. For example, it is shown that some species already have adapted to the new climatic conditions, while other disperse to new habitats; causing range shifts and new community compositions. Since anthropogenic climate change is predicted to continue during this century and beyond, reliable future predicitions is of urgent need.
Earlier studies in this field have mainly focused on the isolated effect of one factor, such as dispersal or species ability to adapt, in the context of climate change. However, these factors are basic ecological and evolutionary processes and interact with each other and with community dynamics through numerous feedback loops, and should not be treated separately. This study will show you an alternative framework, including the combined effect of species interactions, dispersal and genetic variations.
