Strength and direction of lateralized behaviour at the population level
No significant biases towards the use of a particular limb or side of the body were found at a population level since:
- The number of non-lateralized monkeys was significantly higher than the number of lateralized monkeys for all analysed motor patterns (Binomial test; Z ≥ 1.96; P < 0.05).
- The number of individuals who preferred the right limb/side was not significantly different from that of those who preferred the left limb/side.
Therefore, no task specialization or true handedness were found.
