Strength and direction of lateralized behaviour at the individual level

Fifteen of the 32 studied howler monkeys displayed significant lateral biases with single motor patterns (Binomial test; Z ≥ 1.96 and Z ≤ -1.96; P < 0.05). See figure 3.

However, the individual preferences found here were not present across motor patterns.

Therefore, although a side preference was found in some individuals, there was no side specialization.
