Ear position as an indicator of positive emotional states in dogs
In welfare science, animals are regarded as sentient beings able to experience emotions and feelings, though the focus has mainly been on negative affective states used to indicate poor welfare. Consequently, there is a lack of potential measurements to identify good welfare and positive emotions.
The aim was therefore to investigate wether ear posture was a suitbale non-invasive method to assess positive emotional states in dogs when exposed to four positive stimuli.
