Influence of landscape scale and habitat distribution on individual bat species and bat species richness
Why are bats important creatures?
Bats are the only mammals that have the ability to sustain flight. All the bats in this world belong to the order Chiroptera, which is the species rachises mammal group after the rodent. There is around 1200 different bat species, from the big fruit bats down to the small insect eating bats. Most bats are very sensitive of their environment and react fast for any changes, and since many other animal species thrive in the same habitat as the bats, they are very good indicator species for a healthy biodiversity.
Aim
The aim for this project is to identify how bat diversity and individual bat species responds to different habitat and amount at different spatial scales, and to find a combination of habitats types that best explain the local bat fauna.
