Conclusions

When recommending a management practice suitable for semi-natural grasslands, several factors like the effect on the flora and fauna and the cost- and time-consumption need to be considered. My study focused on the effect of different management practices on the flora, and the following conclusions could be drawn:

As mowing ensured higher odds of finding indicators of good management compared with grazing, mowing is the long-term management practice that should be recommended in semi-natural grasslands.

The results from the mowing trial suggest that both mowing with a knife mower and a grass trimmer have the same effect on the odds of finding grassland indicators. Therefore, both mowing techniques can be recommended for use in semi-natural grasslands.
