Conclusions

In this thesis, only preliminary results regarding the tumor volumes of Ndst-1 knock out mice could be obtained. The number of animals was too low to achieve statistical significance due to premature death as a result of hypoglycemia. However, a trend towards smaller tumor volumes in knock out mice at 12 weeks of age is speculative and needs to be proven.

It was confirmed that the histidine-rich glycoprotein derived peptide "HRG330" binds to heparin in the gel-shift assay. It could be also demonstrated that a smaller peptide, "Peptide 8", is binding as well. The anti-angiogenic effect could not be proven yet, since only one set of experiments of the sub-instestinal basket assay in zebrafish could be carried out.
