Audibility tests revealed grey seal hearing thresholds for the Aquamark100 pinger to be as low as 47 dB re 1 µPa rms as indicated in the black line on Fig. 7. Some trials did show, however, significantly higher thresholds (i.e. above 80 dB re 1 µPa, Fig. 7). The false alarm rate was 0 - 44%.
