Cognition in black-handed spider monkeys (Ateles geoffroyi): A battery of behavioral tests

The monkeys and I welcome you to my Master project webpage!

Hello, my name is Tiffany, I invite you to navigate through my webpage and find out all about my Master project.

I went to Mexico and spent five months working with the wonderful spider monkeys who have found refuge at the field station of a nature reserve near Catemaco, in the state of Veracruz.

My project consisted in investigating the cognitive abilities of these intriguing animals by presenting them with a battery of behavioral tests. I explored a variety of cognitive domains and looked at how these different skills could relate to the spider monkeys’ needs in their natural ecological and social environments.

I hope you enjoy learning a bit about these mischievous monkeys, have fun!
