Questionnaires
The owners completed two questionnaires: one to assess the dog's personality and one to assess the relationship between the dog and owner.
Dog Personality Questionnaire (DPQ)
The DPQ consists of 75 statements with responses ranked on a scale of 1 to 7 in order of agreement, with 1 being “Disagree Strongly” and 7 being “Agree Strongly”.
These 75 statements are grouped into five Factors: Fearfulness, Aggression Towards People, Activity/Excitability, Responsiveness to Training, and Aggression Towards Animals. Each question represents a “Facet” of its respective Factor.
Monash Dog Owner Relationship Scale (MDORS)
MDORS is a validated and widely used relationship scale that assesses both the perceived benefits and costs of the dog-human relationship.
It contains 28 questions divided into three sub-scales: Dog-Owner Interaction, Perceived Emotional Closeness, and Perceived Costs.
