Results - Fire history & abundance and occurence of insects
A total of 40185 insects were caught in the smoke attraction traps. More than half of these insects were of the pyrophilic flies Microsania spp. About 3000 Coleoptera individuals was caught and 3.5 % was classified as pyrophilic.

The spatial autocorrelation of the fire history, between year 1999-2010, was significantly clustered (P <0.038, Z = 2.07). The Kernel Densities on the fire history of year 2007-2010, year 2003-2006 and year 1999-2002 shows that forest fires were more abundant in the eastern parts of Östergötland county. The pyrophilous beetles and the obligate saproxylic beetles were both more abundant in the north and eastern parts of Östergötland county (Map D). Microsania spp. were more abundant in the eastern parts of Östergötland county.
Kernel Density over the fire history divided into three periods in Östergötland county. Map A display the fire history between year 2007-2010, map B display the fire history between year 2003-2006 and map C one display the fire history between year 1999-2002. Darker red shows higher fire frequency. Map D displays the proportion of Micrsania spp. (grey bars), saproxylic obligate beetles (blue bars), pyrophilous beetles (red bars) caught in each smoke attraction trap.
